On Thurdsay 8 May, UnitingCare Burnside celebrated 15 years of social justice advocacy. For more information please read the summary document, the speech delivered by Jane Woodruff, CEO Burnside or the speech delivered by Rev Harry Herbert, Executive Director of UnitingCare NSW.ACT.
Reverend Harry Herbert, Executive Director of UnitingCare NSW.ACT, set the record straight about charity taxation in a letter to The Australian. The letter responded to an article and explains why charities and companies are treated differently when it comes to tax.
Services include aged care and disability programs, services for vulnerable families, children and young people and quality preschool education and care. UnitingCare NSW.ACT also manages the Medically Supervised Injecting Centre. As well as the provision of these services, we demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice advocacy by publicly speaking out on issues that affect the people we serve. This is reflected in our social justice charter.
UnitingCare NSW.ACT also works as part of the national UnitingCare Australia network of community service organisations, and continually seeks to address injustice, works to overcome disadvantage and develops initiatives to strengthen and connect communities.
