UnitingCare, through local congregations such as Kippax in Canberra and Lower Blue Mountains as well as major agencies such as Wesley Dalmar and UnitingCare Burnside, provides a broad range of services to children, young people and their families across all forms of intervention and support.
Parenting programs and community education activities promote positive family relationships, counselling promotes new skills and supports families through periods of crisis whilst substitute care, through foster care or group homes, provides security and care for children and young people during periods when they are unable to live with their families.
Major agencies such as UnitingCare Burnside, with a wealth of expertise and experience in the family and children's services field, work together with local congregations in the development and provision of services. They also fund other Uniting Church groups, through their New Ventures Scheme, to initiate projects for disadvantaged families, children and young people in their local area.
The strength and cooperation within UnitingCare's Family Support network is particularly reflected in joint programs such as the pilot Supporting Parents Referral Service in Western Sydney, provided through a consortium of UnitingCare Unifam, UnitingCare Burnside and Wesley Dalmar. These programs reflect the excellence and innovation for which UnitingCare Family Support services have become known.
