Reverend Harry Herbert, Executive Director

Reverend Herbert is a Minister of the Uniting Church in Australia and has overall responsibility for UnitingCare NSW.ACT and its community services across New South Wales and ACT. Rev Herbert is a strong public voice on issues of injustice in society and actively advocates on behalf of the service users of UnitingCare.

As well as being Executive Director of UnitingCare NSW.ACT, Rev Herbert holds a number of other positions, including:

• Co-chairperson, AGL Customer Council
• Member, Legal Aid Commission Board
• Chair and Trustee of the Responsible Gambling Fund
• Member, NSW Government Boarding House Expert Advisory Group
• Secretary of the Civil Chaplaincies Advisory Committee (CCAC)
• Member, Board of UnitingCare Ageing
• Member, Board of UnitingCare Children, Young People and Families
• Member, Board of UntingCare Children’s Services

Kathy Bowe, Community Services Consultant

Kathy joined UnitingCare in March 2007. Her role involves working with UnitingCare Programs such as Lifeline and the wide range of community services offered by presbyteries & missions throughout NSW & the ACT. Important aspects of her role are to support the community services; assist services & agencies in service delivery and development; and, contribute to the development of effective networks in order to facilitate sharing of resources and information.

During her career Kathy has worked in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors. Her roles have included working in health care as a registered nurse in clinical care & service management; as a project manager primarily in the areas of health service planning & development; and, most recently as a Service Manager in community aged care.

Sandra Black, Director Communication

BA (Comm.), MIABC

Sandra is presently the Director of Communication for UnitingCare NSW.ACT where she oversees the strategic direction of communication and marketing for the organisation.
Prior to this role, Sandra was in a senior management position responsible for communication, fundraising, research and social policy. Her career experience in the corporate, consultancy and non-for-profit sectors includes marketing, media, communication, advertising, publications and brand development.

Kathryn McGill, Communication Coordinator

BA (Communication.) Social Inquiry

Kathryn joined UnitingCare in May 2005. Kathryn is responsible for providing project management support and input into a range of communication projects and initiatives undertaken by the Director Communication, UnitingCare NSW.ACT.

Ingrid Hoff, Public Relations Assistant

Bachelor of Media and Communications, Journalism and Politics, from the University of Wollongong.

Ingrid joined UnitingCare in July 2008. Ingrid is responsible for a range of communication activities and projects undertaken by the Director Communications including media, public relations and website management.

Denis Tamplin, Corporate Finance Manager

BEc., B.App.Sci(Agric), M.Comm., CPA

Denis Tamplin was appointed in April 2004 to manage UnitingCare’s accounting and finance. A practicing Christian, Denis is a member of several ecumenical organisations. He has had considerable commercial experience in positions as diverse as Financial Controller for Tamburlaine Wines, Executive Officer of the NSW Farmers Association, Deputy National Director, Australian Catholic Relief (now Caritas Australia) and National Research Officer for the St Vincent de Paul Society.

 

Saroj Shukla, Accountant

Rex Graham, Social Justice Consultant

Rex began work with UnitingCare NSW.ACT in late 2008. He is a Uniting Church Minister with work experience covering diverse areas such as business, managing Uniting Church community welfare services, congregational ministry, chaplaincy, and public policy formulation and advocacy.
As Social Justice Consultant Rex's work covers diverse areas including:
i. developing initiatives within UnitingCare NSW.ACT so that it’s Service Groups develop shared understandings and policy responses to various social justice issues relevant to the work of many programs across UnitingCare (e.g. homelessness and indigenous disadvantage etc).
ii. providing the Uniting Church in NSW with relevant information, theological reflection, and policy development on those social justice issues deemed by UnitingCare to be a priority
iii. developing research partnerships and initiatives which contribute to social justice outcomes
iv. advocacy on behalf of the powerless in society including assisting UnitingCare to fulfill its charter for “making pubic statements on community welfare and social justice issues” (Synod By-Laws)

Tricia Brown, Office and Events Manager

Melanie Leahy, Administration Support

Certificate III in Business Administration
